8th Edition Africa Fintech Forum 2026

Overview

8th Edition Africa Fintech Forum 2026

Egypt is entering a defining decade for fintech and digital banking.

With ~180 fintech startups (5.5x ecosystem growth in five years), a USD 750–800million fintech and digital payments market, and a USD 7 billion broader digital banking ecosystem, Egypt has evolved from payments adoption to full-scale digital financial infrastructure.

Financial inclusion has surged to ~74.8% of the population, driven by mobile wallets, prepaid instruments, Egypt Post access points, and national payment modernization under the leadership of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA).

Under Banking Law 194/2020 and Fintech Law 5/2022, Egypt now operates one of Africa’s most structured dual-regulator fintech frameworks; enabling:

  • Instant payment infrastructure and wallet interoperability
  • Regulated digital lending, insurtech and consumer finance
  • Al-powered underwriting and embedded finance models
  • Expanding MSME and merchant digitization
  • Cross-border remittance and regional scaling opportunities

The 8th Africa Fintech Forum Cairo convenes regulators, Tier-1 banks, digital challengers, regtech providers, and infrastructure leaders to shape Egypt’s next chapter: scaling innovation responsibly while building Africa’s next financial hub.
